Future EU relations with Russia: implications for the European constitutional debate

The 2007 AGM of Federal Union will be held on Saturday 31 March. The meeting will discuss the future of EU relations with Russia and debate the future of the European constitutional treaty.

10.30 am coffee and registration

11 am The EU’s relations with Russia

What future for relations between Europe and Russia? The issues are significant – energy, security, democracy. Is the EU ready to deal with them?

1 pm lunch

2 pm AGM session to receive the annual report and accounts and election of a new committee

2.30 pm The European constitutional treaty – progress and prospects

Will Angela Merkel revive the European constitution? Would a smaller treaty be preferable? What will Gordon Brown’s attitude be?

4 pm close

Elections

There are the following places on the committee to be filled at the AGM: Chair, Deputy Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, and 4 other places on the committee. Nominations may be accepted up until the meeting itself, so you do not have to complete and return the form, but it would help the organisation of the meeting if you are able to do so.
