European citizenship: the concept and the reality (1 March 2012)

The Federal Trust is part of the LISBOAN network, an association of academic organizations and thinktanks, co-sponsored by the European Commission and under the aegis of TEPSA. As part of the network’s activities, the Trust will be holding a conference/workshop on the topic of ‘European Citizenship’ on 1st March from 11.00am until 4.00pm. Lunch will be provided.

We intend to hold three sessions during this event, one on the political and intellectual underpinning of the concept ‘European Citizenship’; a second on the economic aspects of the concept; and a third on the relationship between European citizenship and parliamentary representation. Among our speakers will be Professor Mathias Jopp of the Institute fuer Europaeische Politik in Berlin; Professor Edward Best of the European Institute for Public Administration; Professor Thomas Christiansen of Maastricht University; and Dr Nina Miller of Edinburgh University.
