There is no denying that many problems facing humanity have a global nature. If we are to solve them at all, we need to solve them on a global level. This is probably true of problems to do with war and peace. This is true also of problems to do with global justice. And it is obviously true also of problems to do with the environment. These problems cannot be solved within nation states. They need to be solved on a global level. How could this be achieved? There seem to be three main ideas about this.
