Federal Union’s annual conference will look at two subjects:

– The future agenda and role of the European Parliament
– The case for a global parliamentary assembly

Non-members welcome.

11 am The future agenda and role of the European Parliament
Guest speaker: Andrew Duff MEP
What issues will the European Parliament have to deal with in the next few years. What role can it play in making the EU more democratic? Will the voters have a real choice in the European elections in June?
1 pm lunch
2 pm AGM session to receive the annual report and accounts and to elect a new committee for the coming year
2.30 pm The case for a global parliamentary assembly
How can the accountability of global institutions be improved? Would a parliamentary assembly engage the public in global issues? Can parliamentary procedures work at the global level?
4 pm close

Please complete and return the form below, or send an e-mail to [email protected], if you able to come to the AGM. Participation at the AGM is free, but we ask for a donation of £10 (waged) or £5 (student/unwaged) towards the costs of the catering and room hire. Please make a donation if you can.

Elections

There are the following places on the committee to be filled at the AGM: Chair, three Deputy Chairs, Treasurer, Secretary, and 4 other places on the committee. Nominations may be accepted up until the meeting itself, so you do not have to complete and return the form, but it would help the organisation of the meeting if you are able to do so. If you would like to know more about what is involved in being a member of the committee, please contact Richard Laming at [email protected].
