We regret to report the death of John Williams, member of the committee of Federal Union. He was active in many seminars and Federal Committee meetings of the UEF, and members will remember him, perhaps for his firm opinions on the future of the transatlantic relationship, perhaps for his sly sense of humour. He spoke to us through a helper, pointing with his nose at words on a board, and he never failed to charm, provoke and amuse. We may have lost a political colleague but more importantly we have lost a friend.
